Buhari To Address The Nation On Monday

President Muhammadu Buhari will address the nation in a broadcast on Monday following the end of the first phase of the gradual easing of the COVID-19 lockdown.  Aliyu Sani, the national coordinator of the presidential task force on COVID-19, made this disclosure when he appeared on Channels Television’s Sunday Politics. EFCC Hands Over Diezani’s Forfeited Property To Lagos For Isolation Centre

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, (EFCC) has handed a property forfeited by the former Minister of Petroleum Resources, Diezani Allison-Madueke, to the Lagos Government for use as an isolation centre for COVID-19 patients. The six flats of three-bedrooms and a boys’ quarter had been forfeited to the Federal Government, following an order of a Federal High Court in Lagos in 2017. Speaking during the handover ceremony on Friday, the Zonal Head of the EFCC in Lagos, Mohammed Rabo said the gesture is part of the agency’s support in curbing the spread of the virus. “This gesture is part of the Commission’s efforts in discharging its own social responsibility towards the fight against the spread of coronavirus. “The Commission is always committed and ready, alongside its mandate in fighting economic and financial crimes, to also render any essential service that may be required of it in the fight against the pandemic. “Therefore, the state should not hesitate to call ...

The Secretary to the Government of the Federation Mr. Boss Mustapha announced the appointment before the commencement of the Federal Executive Council meeting on Wednesday. Following his appointment, Professor Gambari has arrived at the Presidential Villa for the FEC meeting which is presided by President Muhammadu Buhari and has Vice President Yemi Osinbajo in attendance. Nigeria Makes ₦2.6 Trillion In One-Year Sales Of Petroleum Products – PPMC

The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC)’s downstream subsidiary, Petroleum Products Marketing Company (PPMC) has announced that it sold petroleum products worth ₦211.62bn in February. It also announced that sales of the products for the period February 2019 to February 2020 stood at about ₦2.6 trillion with petrol contributing about 98.06 per cent of the total sales value of about ₦2.5 trillion.  The N211.62bn figure which is contained in the February 2020 NNPC Monthly Financial and Operations Report (MFOR) is significantly higher compared to the previous month’s ₦151.79 billion. The Group General Manager, Group Public Affairs Division, Dr Kennie Obateru, who confirmed the report on Tuesday in Abuja also disclosed that about 1.7 billion litres of white products were sold and distributed by PPMC in the month of February 2020 compared with about 1.2 billion litres sold in January 2020.  This comprised about 1.7 billion litres of PMS and 1.09million litres of AGO, he s...

2019 Presidential Election: Atiku, PDP Failed To Call Credible Witnesses, Says Supreme Court

The Supreme Court has said that the Peoples Democratic Party and its candidate, Atiku Abubakar, failed to call credible witnesses in their appeal filed challenging the victory of  President Muhammadu Buhari in the 2019 Presidential Elections. The Apex court which gave reasons for the dismissal of the appeal filed by the PDP and Atiku on Friday added that the Appellant failed to prove that Buhari is not educated up to secondary school level, A unanimous summary judgment delivered by Chief Justice of Nigeria, Ibrahim Muhammad, on October 30, 2019, dismissed the appeal filed by Atiku and the PDP after the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal had earlier on in September 11, 2019, dismissed the petition against the election of Buhari on the grounds that the petitioners failed to substantiate the allegations made in  their petition. A former minister of Aviation, Femi Fani-Kayode and the Publisher of Ovation Magazine, Dele Momodu, have clashed on the status of President Muhammadu Buhari, Igbere TV reports. Momodu, a former presidential aspirant, had in a tweet, noted that only Buhari, who he described as the ‘father of the nation’, can stop the imminent collapse of Nigeria. According to him, “Only one man can stop the imminent explosion and that is the father of the nation, President Muhammadu Buhari.” In a swift reaction, however, Fani-Kayode countered Momodu, saying that Buhari cannot stop the imminent explosion. Vice President Yemi Osinbajo has met Nigeria’s oldest surviving soldier, rtd Amuda Aluko, at the grand finale of the 2019 Nigerian Army Day Celebration and Combat Support Arms Training Week, Igbere TV reports.
